Upton Sinclair was famous for writing the novel "The Jungle" His primary goal in this book was to promote.....SOCIALISM. Instead, it backfired and as a result the Pure food and Drug act was passed by congress, which later lead to the formation of the FDA. Everyone should read this book! It is a great work of fiction, but remember.....It IS fiction. There are laws today to prevent things that happened to the character of his book from happening today. In the last chapters of the book, he outlines the basic principle of Socialism.....many which are part of our culture today. Many that are NOT, are constantly promoted today by extreme liberals.
