Urania Crop Fire - 20/12/2014 Just after 3.30pm this afternoon, the CFS was called to a grass fire on the Spencer Highway in Urania, which is south of Maitland on the Upper Yorke Peninsula. 40 CFS firefighters responded to the crop and stubble fire, with support from around 25 Farm Fire Units. Crews have managed to contain the fire, which burnt through around 100ha, and will remain on scene to undertake considerable mopping up until the area is made safe. It is believed the fire was started from a slasher on private property.
