A volunteer writes: Outwitting evil is the underlying theme of Hansel and Gretel, and if our Hansel could talk he would undoubtedly have riveting tales to tell. An older dog who probably has spent lots of time experiencing the many facets of human nature, our Hansel is nevertheless a charming elder statesman - a wonderful creature longing for a fairy tale ending to his story! While his legs may be bent, perhaps with age or maybe some other natural malady, our sweet senior walks quite well on his own, navigating steps in the backyard and the entry and exit into his kennel with an endearing self-confidence. And once outside, Hansel turns on his enormous charm, proving to be a real social butterfly with dogs and people alike. His tail wags and wags with obvious joy as younger dogs approach to say hello. He then moves over to his person and snuggles closely, content to lay there quietly and enjoy the human contact. Little biscuit treats make him super happy as he takes them gently from my hand. We dont know much about our sweet senior but he takes care of business once outside in a manner indicating that he might be house-trained.
