Urza here with this weeks Command Tower! Today, instead of posting a list, Id like to go over the 5 new Khans generals, as well as have the community decide on which one to build and how it should play. So lets get right into it! First up is Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest. At a 3 drop, hes incredible. In the Jeskai EDH color scheme, non creature spells are your main bread and butter for a list, so to have a general that has prowess makes for one hard hitting deck. What makes him hit even harder is the double strike to a creature. Slap a Swiftfoot Boots on him, cast some pump spells, make him unblockable, its not hard to imagine at all why this guy will see a ton of play in a competitive environment. Next we have Alesha, Who Smiles at Death. Another 3 drop always makes for aggressive play. Give him first strike and he can deal with most early game threats without a problem. The real winner here though is the ability to put dudes from your graveyard to play tapped and attacking. I can easily see someone dropping a Master of Cruelties tapped and attacking off this guy, pretty much guaranteeing that youll win that game. Now for the final 3 drop, Yasova Dragonclaw. This card is absolutely crazy. Right off the bat, you have a 4/2 with trample. To make things even better, at the beginning of combat, you can steal dudes with power less than what Yasova has! Green is full of pump effects, so it shouldnt be that uncommon to see people losing their Darksteel Colossus or Kozilek, Butcher of Truth to this. Since R and U are also in the color scheme, there are plenty of ways to deal with the creature you stole, such as bouncing it to your opponents hand, or the more fun option of flinging it at someone. Up next we have Daghatar the Adamant. This guy is adorable. A 4 drop that comes into play with 4 +1/+1 counters, and has vigilance, makes for a great general to swing in with, while still staying back and helping you control the board. His activated ability though makes him really shine. Being able to steal counters from your opponents creatures to pump him, or pump your board makes for a great way to deal with the bigger things. The only sad part is that Experiment Kraj couldnt be run with him at the same time. Finally, we have Tasigur, the Golden Fang, Out of all of the options, this one has to be my least favorite. That being said, Delve is a super strong mechanic, and being able to cheat around general tax if you need to makes this card incredibly reliable. For 4, being able set up for reanimation effects makes this a great support card for Mimeoplasm, either as your general, or in the list. Giving your opponents the choice to return something to your hand makes for some interesting interactions, ultimately ones that should help you in the long run. With Fate Reforged right around the corner, what cards interest you the most to either build around, or add into your current builds?? Until next week! Keep brewing and trolling -Urza-
