> = > “Useless to appeal Cheif Minister (Omar Abdullah) ” Mehbooba Mufti asks Centre to shift CRPF banker and lodge FIR Srinagar, Sep 11: Condemning the latest killing of youth in Shopian, Peoples Democratic Party president, Mehbooba Mufti Today (Wednesday) demanded an FIR should be lodged into the killing of four youth in Shopian. She demanded the immediate removal of the CRPF banker located at Gagrin. During a press conference in Srinagar, Mehbooba Mufti asked the Central Government to shift the CRPF camp where from the CRPF personnel shot dead the four civilians on Saturday. “Police has lodged an FIR on the CRPF side, but they are yet to do so from the family of three slain youths,” PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti told reporters here. “On behalf of the family we demand that an FIR should be lodged into the killings. Even the police have acknowledged that three out of the four civilians were innocent,” Mehbooba Mufti added while saying that there are conflicting reports about the fourth slain person. Mehbooba Mufti said that “there are reports that CRPF has shot dead another youth, Rafiq Ahmad Gania, in Shopain on Today (Wednesday).” She, therefore, said that the CRPF camp should be relocated as falling in the vicinity of Degree College there are chances of (dangerous consequences) whenever things between the two sides flare up. “I urge the Central Government to shift the camp. I will not ask the State’s Chief Minister Omar Abdullah owing to the meek nature he shows on such incidents. “Mere Haath Mein Kuch Nahin Hain (there is nothing I could do) to deliver justice to the affected families,” said Mehbooba while referring to the inability of Omar Abdullah in punishing the killers. Mehbooba Mufti, who was stopped at Pulwama and refrained by authorities from moving to Shopain to express her condolences to the bereaved families, said that state government has started ‘victimizing’ the Kashmiri youth in order to cash in on the benefits of election boycott here. “National Conference (NC) has mastered this method. Method of killing youth and alienating them just to force the people to boycott the elections. Srinagar bears witness to it (alienation of youth and election boycott). Once the boycott is done NC goons go to the polling booths and seal the fate in party’s favour,” alleged Mehbooba while adding that NC is trying to stoke communal tensions between Sikhs and Muslims in Shopain. She added 99% of the persons killed are youth since the day present government took the charge of the state. Mehbooba Mufti also said that 99% of the persons booked under PSAs and against whom FIR’s were lodged are also youths. “It has sort of become a selective process…A process where NC is selectively targeting the youth and victimizing them for the party’s benefits,’ alleged Mehbooba Mufti. She said that the killings in Kashmir have lost count and the subsequent inquiries ordered have gathered dust. “Even Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr Farooq Abdullah sounded against an inquiry into the Shopain killings,” Mehbooba Mufti said. To aquery that if things remain the same even after the FIR is lodged; Mehbooba chose to play a defensive side. “Let the police register the FIR first. FIR is the minimum and basic thing police could, at least, do,” the PDP president said. On the communal clashes in Muzafarnagar in UP, Mehbooba said that she has conveyed her concerns to the Prime Minister in this regard.
