Using Propaganda in fighting Ebola, Will we win? By Abdul Malik Bangura What are you doing to eradicate Ebola from Sierra Leone? I ask, sitted in my little room. Inciting northerners to see south-easterners as symbol of Ebola, or creating a room of awareness where everyone takes collective blames or play active role to wipe out this manice. I observe, if reporting about Ebola is not handled with care, I perseive a Sierra Leonaen Society falling into tatters. In our little ways, we are triving to use our communication skills to practicalise our theories, but if the overseers (politicians) are not using the right channel to win the peoples minds or score political points, but rather preaching divides amidst death and horror, a society of calamity awaits us. It happened in Rwanda in 1994, between the Hutus and Tutsis also in Yugoslavia in 1991 where peaceful nations ( Bosnia, Croacia, Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro and Slovania) were plunge into the wind of death and distruction. Many will not understand the the door am opening, but for those who dare to understand, think! Think! From using propaganda to win minds of people in Bombali and Port Loko that south-easterners are being sent to poisen waterwells, unto using also propaganda to let South-Easterners to perserved the Ebola outbreak as a nothern conspiracy. With these, are we really achieving our deserved goals as a nation? Every one will feel that propaganda is just a tool in politics, but politics itself has always been an enemy to propaganda. Examples: The Nazist Holucost, War in Vietnam, atomic plague in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the battle of Stallingrad and concentration camps in Belzec, Trablinka, Sobibor, Dacau and Bukenwelt all are examples of cases where wrong information decieve the world about the actualities of what was happening in those cases. Lets report the truth about whats happening during the Ebola outbreak and lets collectively help within our little ways to create a sense on nationality and collactivity in our national course to eradicate this manice from our soil. When you use all the political values and judgements into terms of people, the become both similar and more difficult to handle James Cameron, 1965, in his article titled Through the looking-glass.
