Usually, I take landscape pictures, which are much easier than portraits. However, a portrait is much more interesting and meaningful than a landscape photo once the photographer and her subject establishes connection. Ni-Fei is my first portrait subject. Ni -Fei is a very self-controlled person. He always puts on a standard “customer service” smile when he is put in front of a camera lens. It took many practices in front of the camera to make him forget about me and the camera. In the first picture, he is in his usual calm mood. His gentleness and thoughtfulness brought out his sensitive side. His steadfastness and inflexibility make him a little fragile in some way.
