Usually, I wont engage in rants. But Veterans Day is over and I - TopicsExpress

Usually, I wont engage in rants. But Veterans Day is over and I will take down the military photos on my page and get on with the things that need attention in the coming days. However, I think someone needs to fire a shot at all the big business operations that have turned Veterans Day into another opportunity to sell more stuff. They have done it to Christmas and even to Thanksgiving...they sell images of happy times and family gatherings in an effort to encourage you to buy that happiness. We know we cant. Now they are trying very hard to make a buck by selling the idea that Veterans Day is a big shopping event. To that I say Nuts. Service by those men and women in uniform is not about buying a car or a mattress and the day that we set aside to honor them is not about making more money. Im asking all of my fellow veterans and those who honor them to let the world of commerce know that you cant have our day. We will not let you take one more honorable concept, a special day to honor those who served, and make it another pre-Christmas sale. Enough. Stop. We will not enter a store that is advertising a Veterans Day Sale. That simple. We can walk away. To use the Armys own moto, This Well Defend. Any time you get the opportunity please let Sears, or Macys or J.C. Penny or Target or any other store know (put a note in your next bill) that this is our day, and they cant have it and they insult us when they try to take it. End of Rant.
