Uttarkashi is the most vulnerable to natural disaster district of Uttarakhand, every year natural calamities upset people’s livelihood and properties. The major disasters happened in Uttarkashi are flash flood, erosion, earthquake, land slide. Disaster history of Uttarkashi district is very strong and affected thousands of families. CEE Himalaya Organised day long program at GGIC, Uttarkashi. Total no of students present in the event were 456 and teachers were 36. The participants in the events were from different section of people particularly relevant Teachers, Red Cross, School Students, Fire Services, Medical department, NGO’s, and Police. Mr. Jagmohan Arora, Trainer of Master Trainers, Red Cross Society, Demonstrated on quick response during and after disaster. To make the day worthy Red Cross organised a disaster response mock drill/ simulation to show how to reduce rural disaster risks by involving the participants. Students learned how to make stretcher of blanket and bamboo for quick response Mr. Puran Chandra Sharma, Senior Officer, Fire & Emergency Services, Uttarkashi gave brief lectured on fire. How to extinguish fire at the initial stage explained by him. Dr. Vimla Makhloga, NRHM, Uttarkashi Demonstrated, lectured on Emergency and First-Aid kit and she said that well-stocked school-specific first aid kit is a handy thing to have. To be prepared for emergencies, keep a first aid kit ready always. While preparing the First Aid Kit, make sure it has all the items you may need such as medications, emergency phone numbers, and other items your health-care provider may suggest. Check the kit regularly. Check expiration dates and replace any used or out-of-date contents. In First-Aid kit medication should also carry with specific medication needs.
