VACANCY for the Post of General Manager – Haulage Services Ref: GPH13H01 A Lagos based emerging haulage company with national coverage requires the services of a General Manager. The company among others provides truck haulage services to major customers across Nigeria. The company plans to reposition its operation rapidly in response to expansion in business volume and geography of its market base. It is therefore ready to improve its scale and capability of the business to meet higher levels of performance expected by current and prospective customers Applications are therefore required from suitably qualified candidate who should be proactive, organised and professional individual with a can do attitude to add value and make a difference. A General Haulage background is essential to this role. Qualification and Experience A suitable candidate should: · Hold a Bachelor Degree (minimum of second class lower). An additional business, management or professional qualification such as an MBA or membership of recognized transport and logistics professional bodies like Nigerian Institute of Logistic will be an advantage. · Preferably be an experienced Automobile Engineer with Business Management experience acquired from a career that has spanned the technical side – workshop operations and fleet maintenance to marketing and corporate management- in the haulage business. Such experience should preferably include some years in Nigeria. However experience of a Nigerian or Expatriate entirely outside Nigeria with large top rated haulage enterprises will be considered. · Possess a minimum of 10 years in one or more top class haulage enterprises. Previous experience in a turn- around or transformation project of a haulage business will compensate for the number of years expected from suitable candidates. · Not be more than 40years old · Should be computer literate with good practical knowledge of MS Word and Excel as well as Fleet Management Applications. Key Result Areas/Competencies The qualified candidate will: · Manage and maintain a fleet of trailers. · Ensure zero down time for all the equipment and trailers. · Plan and implement preventive and corrective maintenance · Manage drivers/operators and ensure compliance to safety and company policies Terms · Operational car, · Performance based bonus and · Competitive salary.
