VAMS 3.14.14 Dear Parents/Guardians: Snow Make Up Days: 1. Monday, March 17 (Full Day) – No Enrichments 2. Friday, March 21 3. Monday, March 24 (Full Day) – No Enrichments 4. Monday, April 21 (Full Day) – No Enrichments 5. Starting on Monday, March 24, the school day will be extended by 7 minutes for the remainder of the school year. - Monday dismissals (1:07) - Tuesday through Friday (3:07) Congratulations to sixth grade student Rosie Scott-Benson. She represented Voyager Academy at the Regional Spelling Bee last weekend and finished in the top 13 out of 61 contestants. She made it through 9 tough rounds. Two of our three Science Olympiad Teams competed last weekend as well in their regional competition. Both teams finished second place overall in their divisions. Every student won at least one medal in their events. The students and their competition areas are listed at the end of the update. Best of luck to our Middle School Science Olympiad Team as they compete this weekend. Voyager Academy is very proud of these students!! This electrifyin production will take place Wed. March 19, Thurs. March 20, and Fri. March 21. All shows begin at 7:00pmin the VAHS gym. The Cast includes some of our 7th and 8th graders. Also, be sure to take a good look at the set which was made by Ms.Corrie Davis, middle school students, and volunteer parents! GREASE is the word! • We have several copies of Peak that can be purchased in the front office for $7.00. This is required reading for grades 6 -8 and one of the options for 5th. Students can purchase these before school and during lunch. • The 2014-15 lottery will be held on Saturday, March 15 in the middle school gym at 12:00. • The sixth grade will present their Play Project, “How can theater be used to raise environmental awareness” next week at the Durham Arts Council Theater. This is the culminating event for the nine week project. • Yearbooks are now on sale. You can order your copy online at strawbridge.net. Please continue to check the parent grade portal if you have a child in grades 6 -8 to make sure they have turned in all work. Report cards will come home on Friday, March 28. • We celebrated 89 students today who earned Viking Pride Awards. Viking Pride Awards are given by staff to students who have gone above and beyond to support the school and other students. These students received a wristband for a Dress Down Day. • Due to the inclement weather make up days, the 4th session of Enrichment classes will not start until March 31. Enrollment for Session 4 will be March 14-23. Please visit the Voyager website to register when the window opens.
