VENOM TRYOUT This Saturday NOVEMBER 22nd Program Overview In an attempt to level the playing field more so than what is allowed by US lacrosse age guidelines Venom will be switching to year based teams for the Summer of 2015. Venom takes prides in keeping up with the latest techniques and positive improvements in the lacrosse world. At the youth level over the past few years there have been problems and misinterpretations of current US Lacrosse age requirements for travel and youth lacrosse program causing several unfair disadvantages to teams that follow the rules correctly. Furthermore, when our athletes get to the time of college recruitment, college coaches find it more desirable to come see teams that they know have players either from the same grad year or one year apart (ie; 2015/2016) making recruitment efforts much easier for their specific needs. Because of this many of the nations top programs are moving to graduation year based teams. Team Venom is making this positive move as well. Team Venom understands that no system is perfect but grad year based teams will place our young men on the most level playing field and allow for the most seamless recruitment efforts. We will offer both Elite and Academy level teams based on the level of play of each selected team. 2016-2019 players will receive recruiting benefits including access to game footage and highlight tape making software. All players will be be exposed to the teaching of the areas most outstanding coaches. Our unique hybrid box/field curriculum developed from the most current coaching techniques is ideal for players of all ages. It is the mission of the Venom program to equip your lacrosse player with the tools and skills to be successful on and off the field and to grow as a player and an individual. Preliminary Details November 22nd players with graduation years 2019-2016 will play from 2-330. players with Graduation years 2020-2025 will try out from 330-5. On December 21 2019-2016 grad years will try out from 11-1230 and 2020-2025 grade years will try out from 2-330. All tryouts will be at U of R intramural fields. November and December tryouts will be followed by a spring tryout in March, 2 team clinics in April, and 2 team clinics in May. The summer season will begin with a four day boot camp the first week of June followed by two practices a week through July 21st. We will target Tuesday and Thursday evening for practices with one in Henrico County and one in Hanover County. Elite teams will play 3-4 tournaments depending on the age level and academy teams will play 2 tournaments and participate in local games. These teams will be TRYOUT ONLY selected from the areas most competitive players!!
