VERY IMPORTANT: BEFORE THE HOLIDAY STARTS! Everyone must do ERUV TAVSHILIN this year. Plz read blew what it is and what you have to do.. It’s very easy, if you have any questions plz don’t hesitate to ask me. We do this B/c Chag goes straight into SHABBAT. The question is, how we can cook for Shabbat b/c it’s still Chag and you are not allowed to prepare for the next day. This is why we do Eruv Tavshilin. This has to be done before Chag starts, PLEASE DO THIS NOW!!! It is forbidden on a holiday to do any act in preparation for the following day, even if the following day is Shabbat. However, if you do Eruv Tavshilin you will be allowed to cook food on a holiday for use on a Shabbat that immediately follows it. If a holiday day -- whether the first or second day of a holiday -- falls on a Friday, an Eruv Tavshilin is set aside on the day preceding the holiday which ever day it starts. This year it starts Tonight – Wednesday, So you have to make the Eruv TODAY and eat it on Shabbat. This way we will be permitted to prepare for food on Friday for Shabbat (cooking as well as any other necessary preparations) on the holiday. THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT! Only one eruv is required per household. This is how you make it… Very easy! This ERUV consists of a any of one these “Challah, a whole bread or Matzahs”, and an unpeeled Hard-Boiled Egg. Once you make the egg Please Take the Challah & Boiled egg (it is a good idea to wrap them in aluminum foil, or another distinctive packaging, to easily keep them apart from the rest of the food in your refrigerator), While standing, and holding the food in the right hand, say: THE BRACHA IS; (2 Brachas – One you can say in Hebrew and the 2nd is best to say it in English or a Language you understand) 1st Bracha; Baruch ata Ado-noi Elo-heinu melech ha-olam, Asher kid-shanu bi-mitzvo-tav, Vi-tzee-vanu al mitzvat eiruv. Meaning: Blessed are You, the Lord our G-D, King of the universe, Who sanctified us with His commandments, and commanded us in the mitzvah of eiruv. 2nd Bracha (Best in your own language); By means of these eiruv foods, we will be permitted to bake, cook, keep foods warm, light candles, carry, and do all that we need on Yom Tov for Shabbat. The eruv is put away until Shabbat, when it is eaten. In many communities, it is customary to use the challah or matzah as one of the two loaves of bread used at the Shabbat Day meal. If you have any questions please message me or call me and I would Love to help you!!! SHANA TOVA & SHABBAT SHALOM SARA B.
