VESTI BUNE DIN OLANDA: Moratoriul impotriva fracturarii hidraulice a fost extins pana in 2016!! Asta pentru ca doar 6% dintre olandezi sunt in favoarea extragerii gazelor de sist. good news from The Netherlands: last week our fracking moratorium was extended with another year, till at least 2016! This increases the chance that the final decision on fracking will be left to a next government. Parliament elections are planned for september 2016 and no political party wants to be responsible for allowing fracking in the Netherlands a few months before the elections. A recent opinion poll showed that only 6% of the Dutch population is in favour of fracking. We celebrated this good news - and of course Global Frackdown Day - with a visit to the newest frackfree municipality Oudewater. We brought them a big cake with the map of the current 221 frackfree municipalities (and 9 frackfree provinces) on it: https://schaliegasvrij.nl/kaart/ The reason why the moratorium is extended with a year is because the proces of writing the Structuurvisie Schaliegas - a study to determine the most suitable locations for fracking - is delayed with a year since the announcement in september 2013. One of the reasons for this delay is the fact that almost 3000 people, organisation and municipalities took part in a public consultation round, submitting more than 5000 pages of remarks and questions to the ministry!
