VICS PICKS: 4 great shows tonight featuring 4 different musical genres and 5 extremely talented drummers! Definitely something for everyone!! 1. The Frank Catalano/Jimmy Chamberlin Band @ The 3rd Annual Deer Park Jazz Patio and Wine Festival @ The Deer Town Center 20530 N Rand Rd. Deer Park, Illinois Saxophonist extraordinaire Frank Catalano and Jimmy Chamberlin from Smashing Pumpkins joined forces to record a new jazz album last year. Their album called Love Supreme Collective was just released and is currently #1 on the Jazz iTunes Charts. The pair lead an outstanding group to headline The Deer Park Jazz Patio and Wine Festival. 2. Jason Aldean featuring Rich Redmond @ First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, Illinois A powerhouse drummer backing one of countrys biggest superstars. Rich has been with Aldean since the very beginning and has recorded 10 #1 singles with over 7 million albums sold and over 13 million single downloads. 3. The Cult featuring John Tempesta @ Concord Music Hall 2047 N Milwaukee Ave. In Chicago Tempesta is a veteran in the business and has played with artists like White Zombie, Rob Zombie, Helmet, Scum of the Earth, Tony Iommi, Exodus, and Testament. Tonight hes the driving force behind these classic English rockers. 4. REO Speedwagon featuring Bryan Hitt & Chicago featuring Tris Imboden on drums and Walfredo Reyes, Jr. on percussion @ FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island in Chicago Since 1989, Bryan has toured and recorded with the classic rock band REO Speedwagon. His established catch phrase “Hitt ‘em Hard” is more than just a catchy slogan. Bryan really does play the drums hard AND extremely well! For over 20 years, Tris Imboden has been a member of Chicago. From 1977 to 1989, Tris was also the drummer for The Kenny Loggins Band. Tris versatility enables him to fit in perfectly in any musical situation, especially within a band like Chicago who covers a wide range of styles. Walfredo Reyes, Jr. is both a wonderful drum set player and percussionist. Add blistering chops and a penchant for playing unusual patterns to the mix, and you have only a small idea of what this man can do. A great addition to the group.
