VILLAGE: We believe in the importance of having connections. Connections help parents face the challenge of figuring out how to raise their children in a conscious and holistic ways. We believe - DEEPLY - in the strength and connection of community - a place to gather. Its why we opened The Gathering Place three years ago. You may not know this but next weekends Green Baby Fair is our biggest event(s) of the year. We do it not only because its fun and a near exact replica of the spirit of connection that we try to demonstrate every day, but also because its critical to keeping the doors of The Gathering Place open. While we know in our hearts that our living breathing village is essential, it doesnt often mean that a community space like ours is sustainable. Keeping our doors open has at been hard and sometimes impossible work. On this, our third anniversary, it saddens us to feel (by way of ticket sales) that perhaps some of these efforts are in vain and this event (and by extension this center) are not worth keeping.
