VIPs of Arunachal violate Supreme court ruling ITANAGAR, Oct 20: Concerned over rising instances of criminals using black films for windscreens and side glasses of four wheelers, the Supreme Court in April 2012 directed States and Union Territories to strictly enforce the ban on use of the tint beyond the permissible limit. Manufacturers was allowed to produce vehicles with tinted glasses which provide for 70 per cent Visual Light Transmission (VLT) for safety glasses on windscreen (front and rear) and 40 per cent VLT for side glasses, the apex court said. A three-judge bench of Chief Justice SH Kapadia, AK Patnaik and Swatanter Kumar gave the ruling while partly allowing a PIL filed by one Avisekh Goenka seeking total ban on all forms of tinted glasses used in four wheelers. In Arunachal Pradesh, especially in capital complex, massive operation was launched year ago led by deputy commissioner Sanjay Goel to remove tinted glass from the vehicles. Capital administration also took step against misuse of read beacon. However, still many VIP and VVIP vehicles are moving around with black film. Both in capital complex as well as district headquarters, one can see many VIP vehicles with tinted film. The most surprising aspect is that despite knowing Supreme Court order, these VIPs seem least bothered. What can we expect from a person who does not respect for law of the land? However the big question is will district administrations of state show some courage to book case against these VIPs for violation of apex court order?
