VISION CASTING THE FREEDOM CENTRE’S SHORT PROFILE: My name is Efumbi Vicent from Uganda. I gave my life to Christ at 18 years old in 1999. I grew up in abject poverty and God used Mr. Darrin Dayton of Glory To God Ministries to mentor me and sponsored my education through the world famous “Compassion International” until I completed college in 2005. After College, I volunteered with Nawanjuki Child Development Centre in Eastern part of Uganda and served for three years as a Child Development Officer in Charge of Sponsor Relations at Compassion International assisted projects of Nebbi in the west Nile region of Uganda. In June 2010, God gave me a new Ministry opportunity in Kampala City where I served as a Social worker and later a Project Director at Africa Renewal Ministries’s program in Luzira. In 2011, my passion to mentor and help the huring especially the young people increased and this led me to pray for God’s direction into Ministry. Shorlty, God faithfully spoke to me in a vision, where I saw multitudes of bound young people flooding to me in need of help and deliverence. This is how the idea of starting Hope Initiative Ministries in Bugiri at Ndeeba Baptist Church where currently over 100 young people are regularly being mentored came in and later the children and youths centre “The Freedom Centre” establishment in Kampala City to holistically raise a Family of Predesined Christ’s Change Agents to become living solutions in their families, communities, Nations and around the world in Jesus’ name.Starting with Uganda, the pearl of Africa, we are looking forward to reaching each African Country with atleast one model Chirldren’s and Youths Centre (The Freedom Centre) and work in partnerships with other churches and organizations to mentor young people for the glory of God. I currently serve as a Program Director at Hope Initiative Ministriesas well as aMinistry Director at The Freedom Centre-Kampala City. We are a Christ Centered; Non-Profit and church based organization located in Luzira a town in the city of Kampala in Nakawa division approximately 11 km (6.8 Miles), southeast of the city centre- Kampala, in Kirombe northern part of Luzira Trading centre, bordered by Mutungo&Butabika, 2km away from Luzira Portbell Uganda’s major landing port on Lake Victoria. Luzira coordinates. 18 00N, 3239 22E (latitude: 0.3000; longitude: 32.6560). The Freedom Centre’s primary charter is serving our local communities as a non-sectarian, non-denomination and above all non-partisan body. We officially started this ministry on 1st September 2014, and later decided to legally register it with the government of Uganda as a faith based organization. The bylaws define the various procedures that govern this ministry. We are deliberate in reaching out to all classes of young people and single mothers especially the vulnerable ones living in slums and villages. We holistically equip them focusing more on Education, Economic and livelihood, Social development and counseling and Spiritual dimensions of life to become solutions in their Families, Communities, and Nations for Transformation in Jesus’ name. We are targeting 1000 young people in Luzira community as our first batch. We so farhave 300 of them registered, 102 are already participating in our regular weekend mentoring sessionsand six of them are already benefiting from our scholarship scheme with Davis Ssenyonjo in his first year at the University. Our formal Vision statement is “A family of predestined Christ’s change agents”, Mission Statement is “Holistically developing and equipping individuals into predestined Christ’s change agents” and strategy is to build “A Christ’s home in Kampala City where the bound, hurting, depressed, homeless, fatherless, motherless, frustrated and confused young people can find Love, Truth, Hope, Freedom, Help, Acceptance, Forgiveness and Encouragement”. CENTRE OBJECTIVES INCLUDE; • Education:To establish high quality Freedom schools and to use the profitability from the schools to care and offer scholarship for other vulnerable young people at each Centre school as well as recruit an equal number of tuition-paying students. The funds provided by these paying students will also enable a sustainable operation of our school and other Centre programs. • Economic and livelihood:To establish Freedom resource facilities to offer entrepreneurship skills to our students’ caregivers as a way of equipping and empowering the community with income generating abilities. The children, youths and their caregivers will be challenged to be creative and innovative enough to begin small and big businesses for sustainability. • Social development and counseling:To establish Freedom social centers where the bound, hurting, depressed, homeless, fatherless, Motherless, frustrated and confused young people can find love, truth, freedom, acceptance, help, hope, forgiveness, and encouragement, promoting useful cultural practices and provide counselingservices. • Spiritual:-To build and equip Children’s churches/ministries with modern but simple worship facilities in partnership with other Christ Centered churches and empower people in worshipping God. CENTRE CORE VALUES • In everything we do as a ministry, we value Love, Hope, Truth, Stewardship, and Excellence at all times for the glory of God. WHY CHILDREN’S MINISTRY • Children’s Ministry is a higher calling and children are partners in the kingdom of God but not passive beneficiaries • Caring about children is by God’s standards, for example Jesus Christ himself became the role model. (Luke 18.15-17) • God views them as whole human beings with value and dignity (Genesis1.26, 4.1 and 1.31) • God desires children to be in a loving, secure and caring family. (Ephesians 6.4, 1Timothy 5.8) • Children are a gift from God. (Pslam127.3-5) • Children are essential to God’s mission on earth. (Exodus 22.22-24) • Children are among the most vulnerable groups in our community and setting. • Each child is an individual and a channel of transformation. • Most churches today do not have proper programs for children and are good at acting on their behalf but less good at speaking on their behalf or making them heard. THE CENTRE STATEMENT OF FAITH • Bible:we believe that the Bible is God’s written revelation to man and the 66 books of the Bible given to us by the Holy Spirit constitute the plenary (inspired equally in all parts) word of God, the only infallible rule of faith and practice in life (1Cor 2:7-14, 2peter 1:20, 21). • God:We believe that there is but only one living God , an infinite, all knowing Spirit, Perfect in all His attributes, one in essence, eternally existing in three persons- Father, Son and Holy Spirit- each equally deserving worship and obedience (Deut 6:4; Is 45:5-7;1Cor.8:4; John 4:24; Matt.28:19; 2Cor13:14). • Man:We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God. (Gen.2:7,15-25; James 3:9). • Salvation: We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace, entirely on the basis of the redemptive work of our Lord Jesus Christ by merit of His precious blood shed on the cross at Calvary. (Ephesians’ 2:8-10; John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7) • Spiritual gifts: We believe that God is sovereign in the bestowing of spiritual gifts. • Church: We believe that all people who place their faith in Jesus Christ are immediately placed by the Holy Spirit into one united spiritual body, the church of which Christ is the head. (1Cor.12:12-13; 15:51-52; 10:32; 2Cor. 11:2; Eph.19:7-8)
