VISIT TO ST MARYS CROOKWELL Last week ten year old Emily McCormack, a Year 5 student from St Mary’s Primary School in Crookwell, invited me to assist her with her HSIE homework - which was to interview a member of Parliament as part of the class study on democracy. (Emilys very compelling email was so impressive I have extracted it below. I could hardly say no!) Yesterday I was able to surprise Emily and her class when I called in to assist year 5/6 with their studies during a visit to Crookwell. There were lots of fantastic, well informed and sometimes quite difficult questions! I was very impressed with Emily and her classmates. One of the truly fun aspects of being a member of parliament is visiting schools. Its wonderful to see these young Australians learning, thriving and striving! Hi Angus My name is Emily McCormack. I am 10 years old and I go to St. Marys Primary School Crookwell. In H.S.I.E. our topic is democracy and what it is all about.Our homework is also based on this. It is set on a grid and each week we get to do two or more. They are due in every two weeks. This week I am hoping I can do one it is Interview a local member of parliament.
