VISUAL VERBAL In 1989 I started college at #pennstateuniversity with the idea of becoming an orthopedic surgeon. Two years into anatomy, physiology and kinesiology, I took an elective Graphic Design class that changed my life forever. Today marks the celebration of the eminent career of my Design Professor, Lanny Sommese. Hands down, one of the greatest Graphic Designers of our modern era. A peer and friend to Chwast and Glaser he is world renowned for his poster work and his steadfast dedication to the power of problem solving through the relationship of THE VISUAL AND THE VERBAL. Todays piece is dedicated to Lannys golden rule, “If you’re gonna show it, don’t say it. And if you’re gonna say it, don’t show it. This ones for you Lanny!
