VIVA ALERT! Late 1960s Custom Burlesque Costume Gown. Vava VOOM doesnt even begin to cover it with this one.... A truly one of a kind gem from the estate of a former Atlantic City... *ahem*... Showgirl, this garment is a burly-q dream come true with risqué details to spare... Crafted in semi-sheer voile and piped in white poly rayon satin, fully encrusted in zigzag rows of Silver, White and Bronze Sequins, a shamelessly low plunging neckline, cut outs at each side of the midrif, two 24 slits in the skirt (one open, one with a ladder detail), and if you thought the neckline was low? Wait until you get a load of the back! Vickki Dougan herself couldnt get much lower! Metal Back Zip Closure to the Waist, Tie Closure at Mid Back. In very good vintage condition, specifically for a garment that was worn repeatedly and used for performance. No holes, rips, tears, smells, or any areas of significant sequin loss. It does show a few signs of wear: slight discoloration to small areas of the neckline, side cut outs and cuffs, and some moderate dust marking to the hem tape inside the back of the skirt (These issues can likely be improved or eliminated with a professional cleaning. I have hand washed and spot cleaned the garment and significantly lightened all of the noted areas, so Im confident that further cleaning can remove them entirely), and a few areas where the silver sequins show minor flaking of the silver coating (high wear areas only, ie directly under the arms and near the sleeve cuffs. Not noticeable unless you know where to look, but worth noting in the spirit of full disclosure).
