VOA expresses serious concerns over proposal to uproot age old trees on Mall Road now. Seriously a part of heritage will be lost if these trees are allowed to be hack mercilessly by cranes. Along with the green cover which absorbs lakhs of Kg of Carbon dioxide every year. Already trees being cut at GT Road and Circular road and no new trees in lieu of this have been planted at other places. The developers often ignore this clause arrogantly. Half dug patches left at Circular Road are an invitation to another tragedy like the flyover accident as often there is a single street light working after a gap of half KM. VOA wants patrons of Amritsar The Mayor and The Commissioner to know that this will not be tolerated and VOA will aggressively campaign and protest against such a move. If needed we will physically cling to these trees and protect them. I hope all members across VOA will support this move a be a part of Campaign to protect the already depleting green cover in Amritsar !!!!
