VOICES FROM A MANGER, PORT-OF-PAN By Pan Poet A MERCHANT’S VOICE from the Manger Says Pan is in danger So get down on your knees and pray What is for we is for we Don’t think like a chupidee Open your eyes a pannist say Then a SPIRITUAL VOICE from the Manger Cried out in anger While you more interested in Play Whe Mr. Foreign will steal the eyes from your socket And pick Pan-kerchieves from your pocket Leaving you Pan-ny-less on a rainy day And with a warning from the Manger CHILDREN’S VOICES shouted “Don’t only teach the Foreigners Or you’ll give our Pan Industry away!” So in song a Calypsonian say “Jah give Trini pan But Trini give Japan” And soon our children may have nothing to play Then a TENOR’S VOICE from the Manger Played for all at Panorama To put “PAN” in Trinidad’s name today For although we are Pan’s creator Mr. Foreign thinks Pan is from Jamaica And our “Panyard” is situated in Ohio, USA A PAN POET’S VOICE from the Manger Is calling on the Political Pan Arranger To ensure all the notes don’t go to foreign land So let’s secure our future And rename the Manger Trinidad PAN Tobago PORT-OF-PAN!
