VOLUNTEER FAVORITE: Here is the Volunteer Favorite for Cash! Hi! Im Rachel, a volunteer at UPAWS. My boyfriend, AJ, also volunteers at the shelter. The other day we had a great opportunity to spend a wonderful afternoon with a very special shelter dog. His name is Cash, and he is a 10 year old American Pit Bull Terrier mix. We knew Cash was a special and very loving dog the first day we met him, but after spending an afternoon out of the shelter with this boy, we really saw just what an amazing zest for life he has! The three of us traveled to Al Qual Recreation area in Ishpeming, where we hiked, played in Teal Lake, and threw balls in the tennis court. Cash may not be a puppy anymore, but he plays with the heart of a young dog! He loves to swim, chase balls and bring them back, hike, and after all that he loves belly rubs and laying in the sun with those who love him. It was all we could do not to take him home to our house...I have a feeling someone else will feel the same! Cash needs a forever family who will love him, provide him with plenty of outings and exercise, and commit to a bit of training with walking on the leash and releasing toys. He is progressing well in these areas, as he is very smart. Cash will need someone to continue with boundaries and direction in his new home so he can be happy and healthy!
