VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH- NOVEMBER 2014- DAVE DOBSON Papa Dave is Lambi Villages un-official grandpa. For several years weve had the pleasure of having him involved in the lives of every resident of Lambi Village. Papa Dave has come to the village six times, with four of those as a volunteer team leader. Dave has done many things for Lambi Village and has so many qualities that make him special to its residents. He has worked to get his church, Presbyterian Church of Mount Kisco, NY involved in the progress at Lambi Village, and has worked to connect village children to those in his church and town, connecting them to build a friendship. These relationships have made a difference in the lives of the villagers and church parishioners and children alike. As Papa Dave has done with his own children, David Jr and Rebecca, he opens up minds of those around him to see and interact with other people beyond their towns borders. Papa Daves presence in the village has made it become a better place as he always works to make things better than before he arrived. From painting of the homes, to railings for the porches, to installing screens in window openings, he has helped increase the quality of life and value of homes for all village residents. Lambi residents take great pride in the houses they have built, and love these extra touches to help make them a home. Papa Dave has also been involved in helping to build financial independence within the village, working with his family to provide an empowerment loan to help a resident achieve her dream of starting her own business. Recently, Papa Dave added a fun feature in the village that has brought great joy to everyone- a playground! Dave spearheaded the playground effort, working with his church to hold a Swingathon fundraiser to build the playground. Not only did he work to raise funds for the structure, but he also designed and built a full-size prototype in his church before heading to Haiti to build the village playground! Papa Dave is so loved by everyone in Lambi Village. We are richly blessed to have the opportunity to call him our Papa Dave.
