VOTE for our project so we can rehabilitate our 8 acre marsh on our Manley Farm Bird & Wildlife Sanctuary on Vancouver Island. Our property is home to deer, black bears, otters, ducks, geese, quail, heron, owls (including the threatened barn owl), osprey, eagles, frogs (including the endangered red legged frog), and more. Wetlands such as our marsh are among the most biologically diverse ecosystems in the world. They provide many direct and indirect benefits to the environment, wildlife populations and humans, such as natural flood control and water filtration capacity. With a lot of the natural wildlife space in the area depleted, restoration of this particular marsh is needed. It will attract migratory and year-round bird populations to the area, as well as other wildlife that will use the marsh as a feeding and breeding ground. In general it will help to restore some of the biodiversity to the currently over-developed and biologically impoverished eastern coastline of Vancouver Island.
