VSU Confession #835 I am sick of hearing racial comments against White Americans. WE ARE ALL HUMAN BEINGS. Just because you grew up in the hood or the slums doesnt mean you have to be a product of your environment. White people grow up in terrible situations too! If you are trash, stop blaming it on the rest of the world, the blame is on you. I would be burned at the stake for saying I am proud to be white, yet we have black pride marches, Black Entertainment Television, NAAPC. Where is my scholarship for just happening to be born with less melanin in my skin? Do Multiracial-Americans get a television channel? Do Latino-Americans have pride marches? Do Asian-Americans have an Asian History Month? Not to my knowledge. I see NO reason anyone should be treated differently because of their skin color. SOMEONE PLEASE give me one good reason why there are advantages to being white and why blacks get all of the above mentioned for being born into a certain race. The only thing separating our races is this bullshit cultural wall. If you act like trash, disrespect your elders, hurt someone for money....IDGAF what race you are...you are scum. I am sick of being afraid to state my opinion for fear that it will be miss-communicated by the more ignorant student body. Someone is going to be pissed off and call me a racist, tell me I dont understand what its like growing up poor, say anything to make this message out to be something it isnt. I am not a racist, I treat everyone with respect until I have a reason not to, I do know what its like growing up poor, My family had NOTHING when I was born, no house, not money, no job...nothing, and this is certainly not a racists post. Some of my closest friends are Black, Asian, and Hispanic. And before the black minority comments come up or my family was enslaved, Im going to stop you right there and say that African-Americans have officially been taken off the minority list and I will be impressed if you have met any of your enslaved ancestors. Speaking of which, nearly all races have been enslaved at some point. Jews for example dont beg to be treated differently....they have been mistreated and enslaved much longer than African-Americans. Also, a great deal of slaves from Africa were not hunted down and captured by the white man...they were in fact, traded to Europeans by other African tribes. I think the saddest part about this is that if I had not of been the person writing this comment and read it as an outsider... I would be too afraid of people thinking I agreed with it to say anything. So, after you read this and think about hitting the like button or leaving a comment, just remember that it is wrong to be proud of your heritage if youre white.
