Vaddim It has come to my attention that I have fallen hopelessly in love with you. Impeccable wit, impenetrable heart Gold is the organ that pumps in your chest And gold is your disposition Within you, an Id of assured intelligence Without you, an aura of kindness; Of palatable climate, of civility O, a mind made entirely of identity, And a brain of naught but that mind; Where ought to be fault, more wit. Eyes unobstructed by the negativity Of pervasive soul and pulsating charm Barely contained by glass Cruel master, you understand not what you hold Captive in your most virtuous and innocent hand A saint playing the devil’s fiddle in my field And, cunning and dash as you are, You know precisely to whom this is addressed You will care—you will not let it show And I’ll continue to while away the hours Days, months, years, eras, epochs, Until I am finally crushed by Time’s cogs I take my desires with me unto Death, A ribbon of the slickest black, silk unearthly A cloud devoid of any hopefulness Yet your words wrap round my mind Buzzing, less like wasps, more like fluorescents-- The light by which I read these words So, you see, my plight is this I long to feel what it would be To fancy myself the centrifuge of your thoughts A mastermind who, doubtlessly, caught onto the drift Not only clings to the detritus in the waves, But commands the very tides they now feel. Vaddim, Vaddim, the charming saint, and me a lowly knave.
