Valiant Quality Manager required, Operations Function: To monitor, review, and assess the Operations Quality Processes across all locations, including Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, Service Quality and Engineering Quality. To ensure that all Operations Quality Staff operate within designed safety and efficiency parameters, that quality data is recorded with honesty and integrity, and that enhancements and improvements are made to improve the overall quality of products, equipment and services supplied by Valiant To review and assess current standards, processes and procedures, work instructions, visual aids and redefine/develop new ones, as required, with support of the respective Department (Purchasing, Manufacturing, Service and Engineering) staff as required, to ensure Valiant exceeds our customers’ expectations. Accountabilities: Coordinate with the Manufacturing Quality Resources to support project team with coordination and execution of internal and Customer (external) buy off events within Valiant facilities. This will include development of qualification documents and establish standard formats with support of the departments such as Engineering, Manufacturing and Service. Also, attendance records and data recording when qualification events are performed to standardized procedures and work instructions. Coordinate required activities with Manufacturing Resources for the following activities: Tooling certification Tooling repeatability Gage R&R studies Drill panel studies Equipment and tooling sound studies Support Valiant Service Team with addressing and establishing corrective actions, and permanent resolution, for issues coming from our equipment on the customer’s floor, facilitating and coaching the cross-functional led by Service Project Managers with recording of the issue and also developing and following through with problem resolution and 8Ds when applicable. Support Valiant internal teams and customer with facilitating 8D meetings, and documentation with the goal of reaching root cause and prevention of recurrence. Communicate with Valiant Engineering on issues coming from our customers facilities in order to establish permanent corrective action. Coordinate with Incoming Material and Logistics Department regarding material receipt inspection, and disposition as required. Support the set up of quality criteria for the inspection and provide help in development of visual aids and work instructions as needed. Monitor the procedures and work instructions are followed through regular audits. Support the development process manufacturing checklists with support of Manufacturing resources, in order to monitor build quality. Ensure that Project Managers hold Lessons Learned meetings and update the information into the required databases. Coordinate the application of Lessons Learned and Opportunities for Improvement across similar projects Develop, promote and maintain an open communications channel and mutual respect with the Engineering and Manufacturing Teams that facilitates a response to their needs and concerns within a positive environment of praise, trust and responsibility; Ensure that all assigned Team Members understand and comply to Company policies, established health and safety policies, procedures and rules as outlined in Valiant Team Member Guidebooks, a well as the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations. Qualifications and Skills: A Bachelor of Engineering and/or Applied Science Degree from a recognized University or a Diploma/Associate Degree from a recognized Community College specializing in engineering, manufacturing technology or quality assurance studies or equivalent and demonstrated work experience; Extensive knowledge of the automotive industry and its Quality requirements is highly recommended. Experience in the machine tool industry is preferable. Significant quality assurance management and continuous improvement experience – ISO 9001 and AS 9100 standard implementation and maintenance, 6 Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing; A minimum of ten (10) years of related experience within the manufacturing sector, with a quality focus and demonstrated leadership experience; Strong cross-functional team leadership skills and capabilities; Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication abilities to all levels of the organization from skilled trades to Executive Management; Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment; Ability and desire to promote and drive a process-centric culture with high level of discipline; and Keen ability to listen, collaborate, coach quality principles and methods to promote a strong quality culture across several departments not under direct supervision.
