Valley-based Jammu and Kashmir Central Contractors Coordination - TopicsExpress

Valley-based Jammu and Kashmir Central Contractors Coordination Committee (JKCCCC), has decided to go 42 hours hunger strike from Saturday against the pending bills of Rupees 700 crore. Contractors are demanding clearance of bills which they claim are pending with state government and would sit on a three-day hunger strike at tourist centre Srinagar. The group has held several demonstrations to protests their demand earlier. General Secretary JKCCCC Farooq Ahmmed Dar lamented that ‘injustice’ is being meted out to the more than 70,000 Valley-based contractors. He said that the hunger strike call had been given to protest the pending bills of Rs 700 crores that the state government owes to JKCCCC and YDS bill System. “The withholding of massive funds is heavily telling upon us. We warn the government to release our pending bills immediately or all the developmental works would be boycotted after June 20 2013,” Dar said.
