Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susann. How many of you have - TopicsExpress

Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susann. How many of you have read it? I am re-reading it this evening, marveling as always at the raw energy, the detail, and the grim authenticity of the books depiction of New York show biz society in 1945. Of course I grew up as a writer believing that this kind of bestseller was trash. I and my struggling writer buddies had nothing but scorn for it. But I have learned from Jackie Susann. I have always respected her power. And I always learn from pondering the blockbusters of the past. I long to see this done as a top notch mini series with great production values, a real evocation of the New York of the period, and the competitive force that drives the characters. I think Jackie was among other things utterly sincere in what she wrote. Am I shocking anybody out there? Comments welcome.
