Valley wide shutdown on april 30 Paying tributes to the three martyred mujahideen in Shopian, chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani Sunday appealed for statewide complete shutdown on April 30. He also appealed the people of that area to participate in the condolence meetings at the residences of these mujahideen on that day. He had earlier called a shutdown on the polling day in three Central Kashmir districts on April 30. The octogenarian leader said: our freedom movement is becoming more precious day by day and these sacrifices demand that we should completely boycott the election drama on April 30 and May 7 and send a clear message to the Indian rulers and their agents in Kashmir. He said that the Hurriyat Conference had already called for shutdown on April 30 only in central Kashmir but to pay rich tributes to the three local mujahideen for their great sacrifices and to highlight the need of election boycott we should observe a state-wide shutdown. We have called for statewide shut down on April 30 and protest demonstrations against the arrests and detentions of Hurriyat leaders and youngsters, he said. He said: our beloved youth should have been studying in universities and colleges but the forced occupation of India and its arrogance of power is forcing these youth to adopt this path of bravery and boldness and they are sacrificing their present for the future of their nation, in such a way that at the time of their death no one remains present around them to offer a single drop of water.
