Valuable Information for customers!!! I can talk till Im blue in the face, but some people they need to read it, some they need to see it, and some they just have to experience it to learn something. With that said, please try to understand and take in this information Ive taken the time to provide. 1. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_virus ~ this is your basic understanding of a virus. 2. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adware ~ this is adware. 3. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spyware ~ this is spyware. 4. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malicious_software ~ this is malware. You have to think logically to understand protecting yourself on the internet. In almost 90+% of all cases of infections it is USER ERROR. where unknowingly YOU the user installed 3rd party software, or clicked on something not knowing. In any case, All virus protection I dont care Norton, mcaffee, AVG, Avast, anything on the market is NOT 100% guaranteed to block, defend, or stop Malware, and infections.. It is your responsibility to understand, learn, and use critical thinking skills to protect yourself with the aid of the anti-virus program. A lot of people Loooooooove Norton or Mcaffee and argue what is better... It is a technicians worst nightmare. Every machine ive ever laid my hands on that has Norton hasnt prevented anything. If anything it chests the infections until your trial is over and then lets them out to run free so you can pay them money.. in most corporations this is what happens. Think of Anti-Virus programs like a car. You want the highest rated safety car on the road. lets say a Volvo. You have the best safety rating, and its still not going to 100% protect you from a crash, user error, falling asleep at the wheel, etc. You CAN NOT set it and forget it like RON POPEIL, and the infomercials you watched growing up. This is not convenience. This is not going to take care of itself. I make a living repairing and educating people on the ways of how I operate a computer, and protect myself. Even myself have been infected with 2 major things over the last 3 years one being DNS CHANGER, that would block your isp service and not give you internet, which happened in 2012. that was not my fault but one was and I knew how to deal with it. With all this information you still may be wondering what can I do.. I just read this dont understand it.. SOCIAL ENGINEERING! MOST VIRUS, HIJACKS, KEYLOGGERS, MALICIOUS CONTENT, COMES FROM SOCIAL NETWORKING. WHY. BECAUSE THEY WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU BUY, ADVERTISE CRAP TO YOU, GET YOU TO BUY CRAP YOU DONT NEED, AND KEEP TRACK OF WHAT YOU DO AND HOW YOU DO IT TO BETTER CONFORM THEIR BUSINESS MODEL OF MAKING MONEY. Steps to Protect yourself.. 1. Install Avast 2014 from my facebook business page click download install and REGISTER!!! YOU HAVE A 1 YEAR FREE antivirus that is just as good as the paid version and helps protect you and is like the best rated one on the market with 25 years experience. 2. You do not need a PLAYER to watch videos and if asked you NEVER need to download one. windows media player, Media center, or VLC is all you need.. and Klite codec pack. 3. If you need a certain type of software and download it online EVEN CNET you download 3rd party installations. GO SLOW.. STOP THINK AND DESELECT CHECK BOXES TO TRY NEW THINGS OR INSTALL OTHER THINGS.. this is ad and spyware. 4. Use reputible websites, with avast webrep that shows you right on google with a green meter frequently used pages on search that are SAFE. 5. Never use your credit/debit card online UNLESS it is a secured connection with HTTPS!!!! 6. CHANCES ARE if you see something that pops up 98% of the time a pop up is a guarantee if you click on EVEN THE CLOSE BUTTON. YOU can install malware or malicious content.. DO NOT CLICK CLOSE.. RIGHT CLICK YOUR TASKBAR AND GO TO TASK MANAGER AND END THE TASK.. THE HOTKEY ALT+F4 AT THE SAME TIME CLOSES THE WINDOW. and its gone.. VIOLA. 7. If something is downloading like cleanmypc, regfix, computer software tools you think is great and working.. its fake scanning and installing crap on your machine.. almost 100% of the time unless it is a reputable company.. immediately pull the ethernet cord from your computer.. alt+f4, task manager and close chrome, internet explorer, mozilla etc. 8. USE CHROME! chrome has extensions to help fight bull on your computer and block out advertisements, and keep you from even seeing them so you arent even temped to click. 9. make sure you update WINDOWS.. ON WINDOWS UPDATE.. this patches every second tuesday of every month to keep your operating system patched and able to block out vulnerabilities.. 10. have a technician look at your computer every 6 months for a tune up.. its like a car.. you keep oil, water, gas, treatments and maintained it works.. 11. malicious CONTENT DESTROYS YOUR HARDWARE. shortens the life of your computer, and takes money right out of your pocket when it could have lasted 5 years it lasted a year and a half.. 12. back up and scan the backup.. reformat once every year or so. when you have me fix your computer. Try to read, understand and use this information. so you dont do it again. and wonder why what I did didnt work.. my whole business model is to help people like I would have wanted to learn all this information back in the day.. when i was 7 i mirc and icq and old school things online at the library every weekend.. I learned early on, hey you cant trust things to be how it should, because there are very greedy and conartists online. Keep yourself safe. and try to understand with these simple things. You DONT have to be a COMPUTER GENIUS or GURU or whatever to read this information and APPLY it to your computer use..
