Van Mildert College Trust Annual Lecture Historian and journalist, Lord Peter Hennessy, gives a lecture entitled Britain’s Place in the World at Van Mildert college on 15th November. In Ann Dobson Hall, 5.30-6.30pm A regular voice on BBC Radio 4, and a former writer for The Times, The Financial Times, and The Economist. His work includes the award-winning Never Again: Britain 1945-51 and Having It So Good: Britain in the Fifties. In 1986, he co-founded the Institute of Contemporary British History and is currently the Attlee Professor of Contemporary History at Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London. His lecture will discuss the road to the next Strategic Defence and Security Review and National Security Strategy, looking at what Lord Douglas Hurd calls “our instinct to intervene” in the world as well as assessing the range of threats that we may be facing.
