Vanishing on 7th Street.....Creepy atmosphere, but too over - TopicsExpress

Vanishing on 7th Street.....Creepy atmosphere, but too over indulgent and nonsensical. Much like its less adept cousin, Darkness Falls, Vanishing on 7th Streets first 10 minutes starts off very well, giving you a creepy atmosphere and a cast of characters who feel very real and very vulnerable to the hostile presence around them. Sadly, just like its cousin, Vanishing soon loses me right after the ten minute mark. The rules of how these killer shadows work are often inconsistent, the characters keep making stupid decisions for the sake of tension and never truly develop beyond being scared and angry, and there are tons of Jesus imagery and allegories littered throughout the movie just for the sake of it rather than for any logical reasons that I can think of. Still, the atmosphere remains scary throughout and the acting is actually pretty good, even from Hayden Christensen (Ironically named Luke in this movie). Overall, Vanishing on 7th street is a very creepy movie with decent acting, but is way too full of itself and confusing for me to watch it multiple times. For this reason, Im giving Vanishing on 7th street a Mediocretastic review.
