Vazhakkai Varuval / Raw Banana Fry - A simple & quick stir fry that pairs with any South Indian meal!! Vazhakkai Varuval / Raw Banana Fry is a simple fry with no fancy items. It pairs well with any South Indian meal combo(sambar,rasam, curd rice). This Vazhakkai fry does not involve any grinding though and can be made in 10 mins. [Preparation Time-5 mins : Cooking Time- 10 mins] Ingredients: Raw Banana – 2 Oil – 2 tbsp Mustard – 1 tsp Jeera/Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp Green Chillies – 2 Curry leaves – a sprig Chilly powder – 1/2 tsp Coriander powder – 1 tsp Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp Salt – as needed Rice Flour – 1 tbsp Method: Peel the raw banana skin & slice into 1/2 inch discs. Heat a pan with oil & temper with mustard, jeera, slit green chillies & curry leaves. Add the sliced raw banana pieces followed by spice powders – chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder & salt. Mix well and cook in low flame for a few mins. Raw banana gets cooked very quickly. Once cooked, sprinkle some rice flour & fry for 3-5 mins in low-medium flame. Once it gets roasted evenly, switch off the flame. Simple & crispy Vazhakkai Varuval / Raw Banana fry is ready. Serve hot with rice. Tips: Make sure to slice the raw banana evenly & thickly, If its too thin it will easily break. U can add pepper powder too. U can add crushed/finely chopped garlic after tempering for an extra flavour.
