Verbal Behavior Special Interest Group The Association for Behavior Analysis STUDENT RESEARCH COMPETITION January 28th, 2014 One of the missions of the VB SIG is to promote research in the area of verbal behavior. One way of accomplishing this exciting mission is providing awards to students conducting research in verbal behavior. We are pleased to announce the 2014 student research competition of the VB SIG. We encourage all student researchers to submit verbal behavior papers. A submitted paper must be original research in the area of verbal behavior with an undergraduate or graduate student as the first author. A submitted paper can be a conceptual analysis, a basic research study, or an applied investigation. Submissions are restricted to current students or individuals within one year of graduating from the school in which they conducted the research. There is a limit of one paper per student. Note that this competition is for papers that have not yet been published or accepted for publication. However, you may submit papers that have been submitted for publication, but not (yet) accepted. Submissions must adhere to APA publication guidelines and must not exceed 30 pages, not including references and figures. The student’s research advisor must send an email to the address below verifying that the student was responsible for the vast majority of the work. Please note that papers that do not adhere to these specifications may be rejected without review. Submissions will be blindly reviewed by advanced verbal behavior researchers and scholars. At the VB SIG meeting at the 2014 ABAI conference in Chicago, the winners – 3 students with the highest ranked papers – will be presented with a new issue of The Analysis of Verbal Behavior journal, a plaque, and a cash prize of $200. Please send questions, submissions, contact information, and advisor emails to Einar Ingvarsson at: [email protected] The deadline for submission is Monday, March 17, 2014. Notification of award status will be no later than Monday, May 5, 2014. Best of luck to all student researchers who submit a verbal behavior paper! Einar Ingvarsson, Ph.D., BCBA-D Judah Axe, Ph.D., BCBA-D Student Research Coordinator, VB SIG Chair, VB SIG
