Verbattle Junior in Tamil Nadu was enthusiatically organized to reach Verbattle to children of various schools in Chennai. We had expected more than 60 teams from more than 25 schools. But today we had only 26 teams from nine schools. We were informed by some schools that they would come in late, so we started the competition as per schedule at 10.30am. None of those schools that promised to come landed at the venue event at 12 noon. The judges selected only 16 teams that would make it not possible for us to conduct even the combat round even by skipping the state level skirmish. Since the cost of the venue and other facilities is too high and the cash prize of Rs. 30000 cannot be given without going through the whole process of the competition, we decided to postpone the competition to January, when we would organize it in full scale and in a better manner with greater participation. We have decided to refund the participation fee. We could have abandoned the even in the morning itself but the decision was taken to conduct it only because we did not want to deprive the children who had arrived of the Verbattle experience, that would help them if they were to compete in the future. We regret the inconvenience caused and apologise for the same, and hope the teachers and parents will understand.
