Vermont Rail Action Network, the Vermont rail advocacy group with which we share common goals and work together cooperatively held its Annual Meeting last evening at the wonderfully historic hotel near the White River Train Station, the Hotel Coolidge. A special train, operated by the New England Central Railroad (a subsidiary of the Genesee & Wyoming Railroad) brought many of the folks from Montpelier to White River Jct. The train was equipped with a wonderful Dome Car ,food service and live music on board. Christopher Parker, VRAN’s energetic Executive Director put together one of the finest rail advocacy meetings we’ve ever seen. One of the highlights was the presentation of Rail Advocate of the Year award to Governor Peter Shumlin. Those Vermont folks know how to put on a great meeting and we’re proud to be associated with them.
