Very Nice Job Opportunity, My friends!! *****VACANCY: IT and Education Coordinator (eTekkatho)***** Application deadline: 7 February 2014 We are currently looking to recruit an individual for the full-time position of IT and Education Coordinator, based in Myanmar. The eTekkatho project is committed to providing a free digital library of research and learning resources to students, academics and librarians in Myanmar. We are a virtual collaboration between The University of Manchester, UK and participating partner institutions in Myanmar. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative individual with strong IT and problem solving skills and a genuine desire to be part of this exciting and challenging project. Working within a team, you will be responsible for setting up local installations of the eTekkatho library and providing ongoing support for the project partners in Myanmar. Training will be provided in specialist areas where you have gaps in knowledge on the condition that the overall skill levels and experience are appropriate. Main Duties and Responsibilities Provide front-line technical support and advice to existing eTekkatho partners; Identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems on networks and servers where they cannot be fixed by local staff; Update regularly digital resources at local institutions where the eTekkatho library is already installed; Set up new local installations of the eTekkatho library and their associated local area networks; Build a catalogue database in Burmese language; Build and establish relationships with current and potential stakeholders for the project, including community libraries; Liaise with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant ministries in Myanmar; Support and arrange Manchester based staff visits to Myanmar; Produce regular reports of the local institutions digital library usage; Deliver training courses and workshops in Myanmar; Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience A bachelor degree or relevant experience in an equivalent role; Strong technical background with effective computer skills; Flexible, enthusiastic and proactive approach to work; Strong willingness to learn new skills and techniques; Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills; Ability to adapt in different cultural and social environments; Work effectively as a team member as well as independently, with a high level of self-motivation; Fluency in Burmese language, both written and spoken; Good English language skills, both oral and written; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Strong interest in education and community development; A good understanding of the needs of the Myanmar community and academic institutions; Excellent organisational skills and ability to work to a professional standard; Good public speaking and presentation skills; The successful candidate must be prepared to travel to different regions within Myanmar; Able to travel to the UK for 2/3 months training; Benefit package includes: Salary will be USD 650 to USD 900 per month, depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. 22 days paid annual leave pro rata.
