We’re excited to have you with us on this unprecedented journey. 78 Tarot is a massive undertaking that joins 78 talented artists, each with unique styles, to collaborate in the creation of a deck of Tarot cards. It is often a dream of an artist to create a Tarot Deck – but it is a daunting task to create 78 cards all on your own. It can, and has taken solo artists years to create a deck. If you gather 78 artists from all art genres, and offer each of them full artistic freedom to create a card - suddenly the task isn’t so daunting. A global collaboration of 78 artists. We’ve attracted a number of heavy hitters in their genres - Jasmine Becket-Griffith, an incredibly successful and famous Disney licensed artist, and Larry Elmore - the godfather of fantasy - a legendary artist well known for his work for TSR, in particular the Dragonlance books. Alongside Carla Morrow, Meredith Dillman, Patricia Ariel and Tiffany Toland-Scott. Recently, Everette Hartsoe, creator of Razor, and often called the godfather of Goth comics joined our ranks, and will be creating a wild card for this deck. Tarot collaborations may have been done in the past, but 78 Tarot is doing ours a bit differently. We have been documenting the journey from the beginning, and have encouraged our artists to post WIP (Work in Progress) pictures of each stage of their card. We have created “The Deck” page that documents each process and have given each artist their own portfolio and have been interviewing each artist on the story behind their card and their particular artistic process. Our deck is complete and we have launched our Kickstarter to raise money for production of a limited print run, and it is going well.
