Very interesting statistics in this article about the prisons inmate influx and the privatization of prisons. According to the article, there were only 300,000 prisoners in 1972, it grew to 1 million in 1990 then to 2 million by the year 2000. I calculated that to be nearly a 300% increase in prison inmates in 1990, and staggering 600% increase in 2000. The privatization went from 5 to 100. Now we all know why, Blacks & Hispanics are the majority of prisoners and thats typically where most conservatives believe we belong, but more importantly its a gold mine right now, pittance compensation for hard labor plus tax payers money for inmate living is a win/win situation for cooperate share holders. Now consequently these same shareholders are lobbyists, and guess what theyre lobbying for? You got it, more rigorigorous laws to double your chances of confinement. We all recall Judge Mark Ciavarella currupted Cash For Kids Scam who gave harsh sentences to over 3,000 kids for 2.2 million. Who was found guilty in 2011. Thats only one pig caught with his fly out, and your delusional if you think the corruption stops with Ciavarella. If you are concern and want to act, you can start by getting all the names of your private investors in prisions in each state. Go from there. Thx for sharing this article Jae Period
