Very on the fence on this one. I know cities have to change. I know we cannot make Paris be OUR image of Paris. Part of what I love about Paris is that it does change and re-invent; I love East Paris for example, a new quartier latin so to speak down by the new national library, but I understand it is for them as well not w/o lots of controversy. The Paris Kitchen blog recently wrote on this, noting (American) folks dismay at realizing that if they want to hit the cool and trendy restos in Paris, they may be eating a high-end artisanal sandwich. Not quite what they had in mind for romantic or... whatever...interludes in Paris. I do have to weigh in that I think the gal trying to get France to adopt kale is out of her mind. But ignorance is bliss. And I envy that gals blissful ignorance about French culture going into that scene. Sometimes I really wish I were more ignorant. Or as my son would say -- life would be easier for me, less stressful, if I did not care so much. Annoying, but well said. Images of what you want from Paris when you go? It may be long gone, but let me know. Curious. nytimes/2013/11/10/opinion/sunday/how-hipsters-ruined-paris.html?emc=eta1&_r=2&
