Very pleased to have been awarded second place in both the Opera & Arts Support Group Scholarship and the McDonalds Operatic Aria in recent times. Huge congratulations to the winner of both sections, the wonderful Lucinda-Mirikata Deacon. I will never cease to be amazed and humbled by the support of the tireless community that organise and find sponsorship for such events. As well as providing some much needed cash, the dedication of these people serves as one of many reminders that even within a time of such global upheaval and crisis, art is still important, and, moreover, so is the contribution that we make as young artists. Feeling very privileged to have been nurtured by such a community over the years, and to have sung alongside such tremendous people last night, who I hope to soon encounter as colleagues.
