Very proud to say that we (Havoc) had the opportunity to play the place that Daves talking about in this recording, Gazzarris on the Strip. We played there three times (wouldve been 4 but the L.A. Riots and the resulting curfew caused one of our shows there to be canceled), all three times there was a good crowd. When we first went to Hollywood, this was the place I most wanted to play, because Id seen it in the film Decline Of The Western Civilization pt. II - The Metal Years and it looked like the epitome of a raunchy Hollywood Rock & Roll club. I also wanted to meet Bill Gazzarri, sadly he died about 6 months before we first played there. I remember the first time I walked in there I could feel the Rock & Roll spirit in this place. On the wall were gold and platinum records from bands like Motley Crue, Warrant, Van Halen, Ratt, etc that the bands had given Mr. Gazzarri because hed been instrumental in their development. I also remember two old contracts on the wall, both from Van Halen. The first was a 6 week engagement. 6 sets per night, $600 total payment. Signed by EVH. The other one was from two years later, one 1 hour set, payment $800, signed by DLR. The first time we played there, from what I recall, the band right before us played over their allotted time - started repeating their crappy originals and a bunch of people left. To get people back in, a friend of ours out there named Joey, who was drummer for a band called Rude Awakening (and was a bald guy who sold hair care products - no shit LOL), went outside and was telling people that Dave Mustaine was gonna be on stage at Gazzarris (their song Symphony of Destruction had recently dropped and they were huge at the time). The result was a packed house and one of the coolest gigs we ever played. The subsequent two times there were just as cool!
