Very sad for bats in Canada :-( If you are not familiar with white nose syndrome in bats this is extremely sad. Cross your fingers and say a prayer for bats in North America. They are making progress but many species of bats in certain populations are now considered to be functionally extirpated and it will take YEARS for them to recover. Functionally extirpated basically means the population is so small they are no longer part of the ecosystem and functionally extinct in that area. After reading, if you would like to help, reach out to a local universities biology department and see if anyone is doing research at that university and make a donation. Every dollar counts.
