Very sad news today in the Fashion world -- the great Dominican-born American designer, Oscar de la Renta, has died at the age of 82. For more than 50 years, Mr. de la Renta was at the forefront of womens fashion. Like his direct contemporary, Valentino, Mr. de la Renta seemed to possess a second-sense with respect to what made women look their most beautiful, feminine and elegant. And -- whether his designs were sporty, hip, breezy or luxuriously sophisticated -- there was never a doubt that Mr. de la Rentas clothes were works of art meant to be worn.
