Very very looooong, but worth the read… As a proponent and advocate of educational development, with specific reference to special needs education, this new trend on FB of openly dissing those who struggle to spell and grammatically construct sentences correctly, is quite disheartening. Are we becoming a people who want to exclude others from expressing themselves on social media simply because they either have some type of neurological disfunction or worse, did not have the opportunity to reach high school? Many of these people (young and old) already have their backs against the wall without us still cyber-bullying them. It would be wise to read up on the following concepts: aphasia, dyslexia, dysgraphia, etc. just to enlighten yourself. Yes, many of us do not suffer from these and often make silly mistakes but these are real conditions many people are struggling with on a daily basis. And just so by the way, for many people on FB, like myself, English is not even our first language but boy, oh boy, do we try, especially for the sake of our international family and friends and yes, even me sometimes, I just like to brag because I know I can write gevaarlik if I want to… Lol! But seriously, next time youre tempted to use your right to freedom of expression, spare a thought for those not-so-obvious, silent disabilities called learning difficulties. Accept it… reject it… choice is yours :-)
