Veterans Day 2013, 10:50 AM A strong cold front will enter - TopicsExpress

Veterans Day 2013, 10:50 AM A strong cold front will enter northwest Arkansas late this afternoon or early this evening. The front will rush through all of the state by around sunrise Tuesday. Much colder air will move in after the front passes. Also, very gusty winds can be expected in the colder air. Wind gusts from later tonight into Tuesday are likely to exceed 30 mph over much of the state, and eastern Arkansas could see some gusts exceeding 35 mph. Light rain will accompany the cold front, especially in northern Arkansas. As temperatures drop behind the front, there could be some light sleet or snow flurries, mainly in the northern two or three rows of counties. The time period will be from after midnight tonight through about mid-morning Tuesday. Accumulations are unlikely due to the light intensity of the precipitation. However, if wintry precipitation does materialize, there will be a big excitement factor and plenty of conversation about it, simply because it will be the first of the season. A period of wet weather is shaping up later in the week, beginning Friday and continuing through the weekend. I will issue the next message on Wednesday morning, regarding the rain.
