Veterans Day. In remembrance of my father and those who have and are currently serving our country, I thank you. My father was 26 when he was drafted. Had just opened his Family Practice in Lansing, Michigan July of 1950; practice put on hold January 1951. At that time by brothers were 5 months old and 2 years old. He served with the rank of Captain in the US Army Medical Corps, 23rd Regiment, 2nd Infantry division, for 13 months in Korea, through November 1952. His distinguished service as Battalion Surgeon for the 3rd Battalion during his first 6 months, and later as Regimental Surgeon spanned the Heartbreak Ridge, Baldy and Pork Chop battles. For his service, he received the Combat Medic Badge, Bronze Star, Bronze Star with V for Valor, and from a nearby French Battalion, the Croix DeGuerre. Along with honoring our Veterans, I honor their families for their journey too..... THANK YOU
